There was once a time in our lives when rejection was something that didn’t even exist for us. We didn’t carry a single thought that something we would be or do wouldn’t be approved of by those around us.
That freedom of self-expression, the kind that just flows without a worry of what others might think, sits at that center of who each and every one of us truly is.
Life taught each and every one of us differently, though. It taught us that rejection is a real thing that is part of this world, and as we experienced rejection after rejection of who we really are, we slowly compressed ourselves into tight little spaces as a way of not getting rejected again.
We may have developed clever games to win approval, but that pure, unadulterated expression remained locked away, and so did the free flowing joy, freedom, and aliveness that went with it.
Can you relate? Can you remember the first time you were rejected for who you really are? A time when, it literally didn’t even occur to you that rejection was a thing?
That little boy or girl is waiting for you to rescue him or her from the prison of rejection, and holds the key to the joy, confidence, and freedom you’ve been reaching for all your life.
The tender pain that is wrapped around his or her little heart longs for your loving attention, and the moment you choose to become fully present to it, it will begin to reveal itself to you.
Stay there, holding his or her little hand, until he or she feels ready to put himself or herself out there again.
