What if, to “be someone”, we just had to be who we already are?
What if the “someone” we strive to be is already carved out for us in the future versions of ourselves?
The more I take apart who I believed myself to be, the more I realize that this is the case. That the “someone” I’ve been chasing for so long was simply an idea I bought into because I didn’t believe ordinary me was good enough.
I’m discovering that ordinary me is good enough, and that ordinary me isn’t really all that ordinary.
Ordinary is breathing, ordinary is our hearts beating, ordinary is those things we do so naturally and so well that we don’t even realize we’re doing them.
I think it’s time we redefine “ordinary”, and make it mean “magic beyond description”.
You are magical beyond description, and no matter what your life looks like when lived from good ol’ you, be proud of it. It’s yours, and though it might not look like the idea of a life you believed should be yours, it is 100% real for you.
There’s nothing wrong with checking out what’s “out there” for inspiration to help us get a better sense of what we want for ourselves. We just need to make sure we’re doing it as us, instead of doing it to try and find us.
This world could use a bit more ordinary. The ordinary you, that guy or gal you’ve always truly been.
